The Ordinary Lovely: Pon-Cons

It's so hard to believe that this time last year we were surrounded by boxes and sitting in an echoey apartment in Zürich. Moving back to the UK in November, it felt a little bit like we missed autumn. We packed up our belongings in October and unpacked them in December so pretty much jumped straight from summer to winter. But not this year. No. This year, we are absolutely loving autumn and taking every opportunity to explore our new home.

I adore being back in the Welsh countryside. I breathe easier when surrounded by so much green, even if that green is slowly turning orange, gold and brown. I feel so lucky to be here and so incredibly fortunate to have it all on my doorstep and for my boys to be able to don their wellies and roam freely.

I can't walk past a pathway without wondering where it leads to and that curiosity recently led us to the most beautiful discovery. If you've ever read Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree series, this is exactly how I imagined the Enchanted Wood to be.

There's definitely magic in the air when walking through the tunnel of trees and under the long-forgotten about bridge and while we are yet to come across any fairy-folk, we have found the the most incredible, and seemingly undiscovered, horse-chesnut tree.

And what greater treasure to find in a magical wood than conkers? Little pockets were filled with so many shiny, brown 'pon-cons' (try as hard as he might, my eldest little dude simply can't say conkers, but 'pon-cons' sounds so much cuter, right?) that trousers were in danger of falling down.

This new ordinary of ours really is oh so lovely.
