Last Sunday was one of those mornings where you lie in bed and the cool, bright light peeking through the curtains almost convinces you that snow has quietly fallen overnight. But no, no snow. Instead, we were greeted by the crispest of autumn days. A mere handful of clouds in the sky and the sun determined to apologise for the recent decline in temperature. While trips to the beach in summer are quite lovely, nothing beats wrapping in the warmest of winter woolies and heading to the shore with a football, a picnic blanket and a flask full of salted caramel hot chocolate.
North Wales has a truly spectacular coastline and I have to pinch myself at how lucky we are to be able to jump in the car and be somewhere so beautiful in just a matter of minutes. The boys absolutely adore running along the sand, especially as the beaches are almost deserted at this time of year.
When you're four and twenty-two months old (and 38, for that matter), what's better than flushed cheeks and red noses and warm hot chocolate to keep you toasty?
P.S. I had fully intended to give my big camera an outing at the beach but dizzy thing that I am, I left the memory card at home. All these pictures were taken on my iPhone 5C which actually has a better camera on it than I initially gave it credit for.
