A new day dawns

The Ordinary Lovely: Sunrise Talacre

On Sunday, crazy cats that we are, my brother and I decided to forgo the extra hour in bed and instead throw on our wellies and coats and race the sun to our local beach. We got there with the orange beams in the rear view mirror threatening to overtake us but luckily, we made it on to the sand before the shadow of darkness had been completely engulfed by the fiery glow.

I once read but don't recall where, that the sunrise and sunset are the earth's best visual gifts to us and as such, we should take the time to more appreciative of both. No matter what, a new day dawns. And oh my goodness is it a beautiful thing to witness. Even if it does make you realise that you're a very, very small being enjoying a fleeting moment on this incredible planet of ours.

Admittedly, since having the boys, I've been awake for many sunrises. Way too many sunrises. But never to simply sit, and watch, and take a few photographs, and on a completely abandoned beach. It was incredible.

Apart from resizing the images to fit on the page, I've not enhanced them in any way ... no filters, no saturation, no refining ... these are straight from my camera.

Nature's very own firework display.
