I'm almost sorry to be writing this post because October is probably my favourite of all the months and I'm somewhat sad that we're at its end. The temperature, the colours, the crunch of the leaves, the hearty meals, cold hands around mugs of thick hot chocolate, and the first appearance of bobble hats and gloves (and new boots if I can sneak a pair past Paul) ... October has it all. Better programmes on the television too, and magazines featuring clothes that I'd actually be tempted to wear as opposed to slips of fabric that I would never leave the house in. Admittedly, this October has been a busy and sometimes frantic one trying to fit everything in. As a family, we're ending it feeling rather tired and with a few extra germs than we started the month with, but we're in good spirits and have lots of lovely things planned in November and December ... so many that I don't think we have an entirely free weekend until the New Year. Good job I'm used to surviving on little sleep!
Before the clock ticks to the eleventh month of the year, here's what I've been loving in October.
This gorgeous body care collection was a gift from Green People and contains the most divine smelling body wash and lotion blended with ginger and lemongrass. I adore Green People Products. I've been using them for years. Being of the pale and freckled variety means that my skin is really sensitive and they have the best and gentlest products containing mostly natural and organic ingredients. With the four recently-launched limited edition gift boxes (other than the body care collection, there's a face care collection, a hand care collection, and a men's collection) a donation will be made to the Woodland Trust for every purchase made, so Green People are not only kind to skin but to the environment too! These little boxes would also make the perfect Secret Santa gifts ... you know it's coming up to that time of year!
This month (and quite a lot of our months clothing-wise, to be honest) has been all about Joules. A gorgeous parka for me (and I couldn't resist the matching umbrella) and cute little hats for the boys which they don't take off. Ever! I've also got my eye on a couple of their dresses so am planning to pop in to the Chester branch for a trying-on session when I can sneak out of the house for an hour. I'm off on a bit of a shopping trip to Manchester with my mum in November too so will no doubt have the odd new item or two to share with you next month. Maybe something festive?
Earlier this month, I fell in love with the stunning Murmur range and it has been an absolute pleasure to lay the table and sit down to dinner. I also have a blanket and the bedding on my Christmas list. It's such a gorgeous collection. Do check it out if you have a thing for homeware. Recently, I also spent several breakfasts eating toast and painting random things gold. I don't know why. I'm going to try and put something Christmassy together with them in a few weeks time so I'll share them when I do. And yes, paint and I? A dangerous combination.
Every day, I wake up with good intentions to cut back on sugar and sweets ... mainly so I'll be svelte enough to consume nothing but After Eights and Chocolate Oranges in December ... but sadly the lure of salted caramel biscuit sandwiches and fudge brownies proved too much for my willpower in October. I might stay away from the scales for a while but it was worth it.
AND FINALLY ...
I just love October. Look at those leaves and those colours. I'm definitely not ready for the winter months.
