A couple of weeks ago, Christmas came early to North Wales and it was with a squeal of delight that I opened a carefully wrapped parcel from View Quest to find an unbelievably cute digital radio inside. Seriously, look at it. I don't usually go gaga over tech, but this?! How could I not when it looks so scrumptious?! This, my friends, is the VQ Retro Mini encased in Emma Bridgewater's Marmalade print featuring scattered Seville oranges. Yes, it's practically edible. And I love it.
Music plays a huge part in getting us up and out of the door in the morning. Sleepy eyes and sluggish limbs can't help but tap along to the beat of Radio 2 (I'm not going to pretend that I still listen to Radio 1 ... those days are long gone) or my eldest's favourite, Uptown Funk. It's what puts that much needed spring in our step after another restless night, and shuffles us from the shower to breakfast instead of tangoing with the snooze button.
However, instead of relying on my iPhone's rapidly depleting batteries for our morning motivation, we now have our small but perfectly formed digital radio which also has the added bonus of bluetooth connectivity so I can quickly switch from the news to my own personal music library if needs be (lots of Stereophonics, Fleetwood Mac and The Lumineers, if you're interested). And it's portable as well as mains operated so I can carry it from room to room as I'm chasing the boys to get dressed and find their shoes. You'd think I'd have learnt to get everything ready the night before, but ... nope.
While the audio quality is amazing, it's the look of the Retro Mini that I've really fallen for. It's not style over substance by any means but it's so nice to see a range that comes in more than the standard black and silver. You can choose from eleven design influenced colours (the mustard and teal are my personal favourites) priced at £59.99 and soon, you'll be able to choose from seven Emma Bridgewater prints, including this mouthwatering marmalade version, priced at £79.99.
To celebrate the collaboration, View Quest kindly sent the seven different Emma Bridgwater print-encased Retro Minis to seven different bloggers to style in their own way. I wanted mine to be breakfast and bedroom themed. I love a leisurely breakfast (not that I get to experience one very often) and our bedroom is my favourite room in the house as the sun streams through the window during the day making it the lightest and brightest place to laze and listen to music. It's my happy place and I wanted these photos to capture that warmth.
On November 30, View Quest will share all seven posts and you could potentially win your very own Retro Mini simply by voting for your favourite. How cool is that? If you keep an eye on the VQ Facebook page, all of the information will be posted on there. If you want to have a sneak peek at some of the other styles, search the hashtag #StyleMyVQ on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
