Lellow

The Ordinary Lovely: Lellow

There are two things currently lighting up my sleep-deprived week. The colour yellow, and the way that my two year old says it ... lellow. Lellow, lellow, lellow. It's one of those mispronounced words that sounds insanely cute when coming from his smiley, little lips and I'll be sad when he finally gets his tongue around the letter y and lellow becomes the much less sweeter sounding yellow. But nonetheless, I will still love the colour. It makes me think of sunshine, lemonade, and sandy beaches. Can you tell that my head has been turned by the recent change in weather? The odd glimpse of the sun peeking out from behind the clouds has got me thinking about the warmer months ahead. Please, let there be warmer months ahead!

In order to be fully prepared for when those temperatures reach the holy grail that is 20 degrees (warm enough for t-shirts, but not too warm that my hair becomes a dry, frizzy nightmare that even John Frieda would wash his hands of), I've done a little bit of summer shopping this week. I've not been in New Look for years (I considered myself to be around 15 years older than their target demographic) but oh my! they have the cutest bags. I picked up this little lemon clutch bag for £12.99 and it's positively smile inducing. On a not so successful note, my four year old persuaded me that my wardrobe was lacking a t-shirt with a glasses-wearing dinosaur and Dipodorkus scrawled across it. I'm not sure what prompted me to listen to him but I'm now the proud owner of this. Don't all rush out at once to buy one!

In true humble British-style of not wanting to make a big deal out of something, there's actually a third thing lighting up my sleep-deprived week but I thought I'd wait a couple of paragraphs to mention it. On Tuesday, I found out that I was shortlisted in the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards in the Fresh Voice category. I was shocked, stunned, thrilled, and ultimately, convinced that they'd got the wrong person. An email today with the shiny new badge that you can see towards the top of my sidebar assured me that they did not. Huge, huge, massive thanks if you nominated me. I really appreciate it. I would be thrilled if you'd consider voting for me (there's a super simple form) to get through to the final five too, but the other nine bloggers shortlisted are all amazing so I completely understand if you have another favourite.

However, to celebrate making the final ten, an achievement in itself, I have two of these quirky, blue, vintage-style Ball mason jars to giveaway. They're an Instagrammer's dream - fab for flowers, storage or just general prettiness. Voting for me is not a prerequisite for entry, don't worry. All you need to do is leave me a comment telling me what your favourite flower is and then fill in the rafflecopter widget below (name, email address, and a quick tick in the box).

The competition closes at midnight on Thursday May 7 and I can only post to UK addresses, sorry. Terms and conditions apply (detailed in the rafflecopted widget). If you have any questions, do ask. Thank you so much and good luck!
