With August having been a month of birthdays, a wedding, and looking after both boys day in, day out mostly singlehandedly, both cocktails and coffee have featured rather a lot. And, sometimes both combined. Aren't espresso martinis divine? And here we are, at the end of the month, on the cusp of a huge change for our little family with my eldest little dude heading off to school full-time in just over a week. So I'm writing this feeling really rather tired but also filled with a mixture of excitement and nerves about what's to come in September. I'm sure I'll share more on that in next month's Things I'm Loving Lately post but in the meantime, here's what I've fallen for and been up to in August.
The little tube of absolute wonder that I discovered this month is James Read Sleep Mask Tan Face. It is the cream of dreams. I'm not normally a lover of fake tan but this is so wonderfully subtle that I've used it countless times already. You apply the smallest amount to clean, dry skin before you go to bed, and then you wake up all sun kissed in the morning. With no horrible orange stains on your pillow, either. A couple of times a week maintains a lovely glow but I'm sure you could go to daily use for a more tanned look. It's £25 for 50ml.
I treated myself to this spotty delight in the Boden sale. It's very different to anything else in my wardrobe but it's good to step outside of your comfort zone sometimes, isn't it? I intended to get a better photograph but completely forgot so I can only share these two Instagram snaps, sorry. I'm off on a little shopping trip with my mother on Thursday so I may (I will) have a better fashion update for you next month. My mind has already turned to boots, jeans and jackets with autumn just around the corner.
This month, I've been organising everything in to Ball mason jars, enjoying beautiful peonies, carnations and my now sister-in-law's bridal bouquet, having the most luxurious breakfasts in bed, making plans in new notepads, and all accompanied by the sweet smell of pomegranate thanks to a gorgeous candle sent to me by Fabulous Candles London.
Espresso martinis and Five Guys. Neither good for head nor health but oh my! How incredibly delicious. A birthday drink and a birthday lunch but I'm hoping that both feature in September too.
AND FINALLY ...
This blue beauty will be arriving at my home in the next day or two. My very first sewing machine, a birthday gift from my husband. I've never used one before but cannot wait to get creating. Expect badly aligned cushion covers to start appearing on my blog very soon!
If you pop on over to Life at the Little Wood, you can read about what the ever-stylish Em has loved in August, and a whole host of other fab bloggers that have joined in with this wonderfully lovely roundup.
