Forget Hygge, I think us Brits have had that heartwarming, nurturing, autumn mood nailed for years with the word 'cosy'. Blankets, woolly socks, and a hot cup of tea. Reading a magazine while biscuits bake in the oven and the wind howls outside. Leisurely breakfasts with family, candlelit dinners with friends. Even, board games on a Sunday afternoon and yet another viewing of The Sound of Music. All concepts and activities that are not alien to these shores, right?

With the sun a little less visible in the sky, and the nights drawing in, I think we're all contemplating a spell of cosy hibernation at the moment, aren't we? It's only natural at this time of year. We swap salads for hearty stews, summer linen for higher tog duvets, and are rarely found indoors without slippers on. Outdoor walks are often enjoyed purely for the hot chocolate reward at the return ... and because how else are we going to show off the new boots we purchased (yet another autumn ritual which I wholeheartedly support and embrace).

A few weeks ago, Christy kindly let me select a couple of items from their new Autumn Winter range ... items to add even more cosiness to my home. My first choice was the Atlas blanket in teal. It was originally intended for our bed ... a much needed change from the thinner, paler one we use in the summer. But it has since been claimed, and dragged from room to room, by a feisty three year old who likes to wrap himself up in it while steadfastly refusing to get dressed of a morning. But who can blame him when the cotton waffle texture is so lovely. Obviously, I steal it right back off him when I drop him at nursery.

I also chose the contemporary but unfussy Maze bed linen. I normally opt for white or pale bed linen but went for this gorgeous purple jacquard weave to add a touch of warmth to our bedroom during the colder months. I put it on the bed and the room instantly had that extra snuggle factor. In fact, I've since started taking a cup of tea up there when the boys are at school and putting my feet up for five minutes ... sometimes longer if the book I'm reading is a particularly good one!

So here's to more months of drinking hot chocolate by candlelight, of baking biscuits to eat under blankets, and to cosy autumn moments spent with family and friends. And to gorgeous little toes, of course. Even if they do belong to the ultimate blanket thief!
