If you remember my post about adding the final(ish) touches to our living room, we had almost got it just right. Almost! With one exception. The empty, white wall above the sofa. We really, really struggled to find something suitable to put there. It's not a feature wall, as such, as we like to have lovely things dotted around the whole room. We just wanted something simple, something beautiful, something interesting, and something affordable to add a little more style to the space.
Even the simplest prints can be so expensive nowadays, particularly if you add in the costs of framing, but not from Desenio who specialise in the most gorgeous Scandinavian-inspired prints and posters online. And, if you take advantage of the current 30 percent off sale (it runs until January 2nd), you can pick up something wonderful from just over £2. Yes, £2! I can assure you that they quality of the prints is fantastic, too. Seriously, if you're looking for something lovely, now's the time to shop!
But which did I choose?
I chose white frames so that they would blend in to the wall and let the prints stand out - the prints are chic enough not to need any help to draw the eye in. I also chose to display them in landscape style as opposed to the more normal portrait as I like the way they run the length of the sofa. They work better that way.
I stuck all three to the wall using the little pieces of magic that are command strips. If you opt for plexiglass rather than glass frames, then your prints will be light enough to be hung using them rather than having to drill holes in the wall. A genius invention!
Top tip: If you’d like to create a feature wall or a gallery wall using posters and prints but aren't quite sure how to lay everything out, have a look at Desenio's templates. They're such a helpful guide.
But those weren't the only prints I picked up. Honestly, once you start looking, you'll find a print for every room in the house! I also chose a set of ten little animal prints for my youngest son's room. And they are the cutest!
They're just 13 x 18 cm and look so sweet grouped together in two rows of five. At full price, they're £2.29 each so make a really lovely feature for under £25. They're currently out of stock, unfortunately, but you can can request to be notified when they're available, if they're something that would work in your home, too.
My son is three and a huge animal lover so they're perfect for his room but I think they would also be stunning in a woodland or animal themed or neutral nursery. They're so nice.
Not a poster or print but something I was incredibly excited to see on Desenio's site, and something you'll definitely want to add to your shopping basket, is the Moebe pinch wall clip. It's so, so clever and so, so versatile ... a brilliant example of good design ... no, great design. And a snip at £7.99!
The pinch consists of two pieces of solid oak held together by an elastic band. There's a little hole through one of the pieces of wood so you can screw it to the wall but, again, I stuck mine using command hooks. It's such a cool way to display art and you can swap and change prints or postcards in seconds. And they work in any room, too! You don't even have to use them on the wall, either. They'd work equally well stood up on a table holding photographs or on a desk as a seriously modern paper clip.
I've since ordered four more ... two will go either side of our bed when I've finished decorating, so both Paul and I can have a favourite photograph or print above our bedside tables, and two will go in the kitchen so the boys can clip their latest artwork from school. I'll share some more photographs when they're up!
So if your walls look a little bare once you take down the twinkly lights and Christmas decorations, you know where to shop to bring them back to life again ... Desenio! And if you do pop over for a browse, promise to let me know what you buy.
