Pack it up, pack it in, let summer begin

The Ordinary Lovely: #plumandashbytravels

The letter of confirmation has been received and the date marked in black ink on the family calendar. Come September, my funny, sweet, kind, chaotic, smiley sidekick will be stomping his way to the nursery at the village school. Five mornings a week, I will miss his constant questions, fierce hugs and cheeky grin as he replies, 'go for ice cream', whenever I ask him what he wants to do that day.

There'll be no more hiding his pyjamas with a coat and wellies as we rush to get his brother to school on time; he'll be in his very own neatly pressed uniform and polished shoes. To be honest, I'm guessing that I'll be the one trying to hide my night clothes under a long jacket and boots as something will surely have to give (maybe my sanity?) in order for them both to be present and correct at the school gate for 9am. It's going to be quite the challenge with my rush-averse two.

Until then, we have many adventures to pack in to our days. Some far-flung, some on the doorstep. Many involving a picnic, a few needing treasure maps and pre-planted gold coins, and one requiring passports. My red and white striped tote bag from Plum & Ashby is sitting by the front door cradling a blanket, hats, sun cream, water bottles and snacks, all ready to be picked up and rushed out of the door as soon as we spot a ray of sunshine making its way from behind the clouds.

I'm picturing a stretch of lazy mornings and hazy afternoons, and twinkly lights on midsummer nights. I love this time of the year. It's both busy and relaxing as we try to cram our days full of fun but ultimately know that the best place to be is in the back garden with easy access to water pistols and ice lollies (and a change of clothes). With the last half term of this school year upon us, it feels like we've completed the hop and the skip and just have a little jump ahead of us to reach the summer holidays.

I. Can't. Wait.

Plum & Ashby kindly sent me one of their gorgeous tote bags to take on my travels this summer. I'll be using the #plumandashbytravels hashtag on Instagram if you want to follow our adventures.
