Bougainvillea to beat the blah

The Ordinary Lovely: Bougainvillea in Capri

Oh my, it has been the oddest few days. Back from a brilliant holiday in Capri only to end up sick and in bed mere hours after landing in Manchester (those pesky aeroplane germs!!). I'm not all that great at leaving suitcases unpacked and the house in chaos but I had to as I couldn't get up for more than a few minutes at a time. I didn't make the BritMumsLive blogging conference in London over the weekend which was crushingly disappointing but not so much as witnessing a certain vote swing in a direction opposite to what I'd hoped and believed (it won't come as a surprise that with many close family and friends abroad and having lived and worked outside of the UK, I'm massively pro-Europe and the EU).

It has all left my head a little bit fuzzy and it's only now, Sunday evening, five days after returning home, that I seem to have reclaimed some of my usual energy. And just in the nick of time, really. Over the next few days, I have a lovely styling the seasons post to share with you, the winners of our fab #UKexplore competition (only a handful of days left to enter so do hurry!!) to select along with Karen from Mini Travellers, a night out for my husband's 40th birthday (new outfit? what do you think?), his birthday BBQ to plan for, and the mountain of holiday ironing to deal with. Will I get chance to sleep? I'm not so sure.

Anyway, if you too are feeling a bit blah, I thought I'd cheer you up with a few photos of the beautiful bougainvillea lining pretty much every street in Capri. It's as if every single wall, floor and rooftop has its own blooming tapestry. I'm off to research whether it can grow in our rather dismal climate. I suspect not but wouldn't it be nice?!
