I'm only ten days late in writing this post. In encouraging the boys to slow down a little now we no longer have to rush out of the house every morning, it seems that I've taken my own advice and have embraced a more relaxed summer holiday pace. It's so nice being able to sit and eat my breakfast at the kitchen table rather than running around with a cold piece of toast in my hand trying to 'encourage' the boys to put their socks on their feet rather than hitting each other with them. The joys of August!
And so to my plans for this month, or what's left of it. Well, I actually think I'll adopt a similar approach to the past couple of weeks and lazily meander through the days until September. Walks, picnics, and finding Pokemon will no doubt feature and I have the latest copy of Porter and a couple of books to flick through. And a haircut! Finally, a haircut! I've had to reschedule it a couple of times and five months since my last visit to the hairdressers, my hair is the longest it has ever been. I'm wondering if I can pull of a fringe like Jess but am not sure whether I'm brave enough (having had pretty much the same haircut for the past twenty-five years).
Having fallen out of love with Pinterest a while ago, I've recently found myself sucked back in by its pretty images of enviably styled rooms and sandwiches to drool over. Here are a few things which I would love to try this month:
- The ultimate breakfast in bed. Which is your favourite?
- Latte art! And capturing the moment the milk hits the coffee.
- A pegboard update. I haven't done one in quite a while.
- Get my sewing machine out! But what to make first?
- A chocolate fix! You won't be able to look at these without licking your lips.
This gorgeous blue tit flask that has been accompanying us on our days out was a gift from lovely Lizzie's shop, Marmalade Pie. It's just the sweetest design and holding 350ml, the perfect size to pop in your handbag or picnic hamper. It's held sweet tea on early morning walks and strong coffee on days out after sleepless nights. I'm yet to see if it will keep my gin and tonic cool but that's definitely something else to add to my August to-do list. I'll report back!
Other items I've coveting from Marmalade Pie (isn't that the best name?!) are these byEloise hair ties which would also make the cutest bracelets, the Liberty print cupcake cases (way nicer than the garish versions my boys choose), and this vintage enamel jug which I think would make the perfect vase. Lizzie also has one of the nicest lifestyle blogs too, so do pop over for a read.
Happy August! Fingers crossed it's a great month.
