Forgive the Lord of the Rings reference. My imaginary relationship with Aragorn is what gets me through some of the more testing hours of the summer holidays. As the boys were throwing slime around the kitchen this morning, I was walking arm in arm around Rivendell with the son of Arathorn. It was rather nice.
Slime mopped up, Aragorn busy slaying ring-wraiths (he's so brave!), and my cheeky two ridding the sofa of all its cushions and blankets to build a bridge between two dining chairs (Iggy Peck, Architect is one of their favourite books), I decided to tackle something which has been bothering me for a while .... jars!! I love jars, store so many things in them, have too many of them, jars are everywhere, I no longer love jars.
But what to do?
Well, you may remember the Great Little Trading Co. slide and rule desk organiser and lift off penholder from this post. Like the desk, they used to live in my youngest's bedroom, but now, both have found their way in to my eldest's room (don't worry, they swapped so the littlest dude is now the proud owner of this cool superhero one). We do have a home office but as it's currently a cluttered mess, my eldest and I share this desk. The light is really nice in his room and it's such a relaxing space so I love having an excuse to be in there (I gave you a sneak peek at his room and this is what it looked like before we moved the bigger desk in if you want to take a look).
So I decided to see if I could use the organiser and pen holder to store all of the fiddly little items housed in the numerous jars around the house. And it worked! I managed to find a space for all of the pins, pegs, badges, pens, pencils, washi tape, string, and numerous other items. Everything is now so neat and tidy and in one place and easily accessible and looks so nice.
The pen holder is brilliant and so well designed (we've also been using it to hold straws) but it's the slide and rule organiser which really steals the show (currently on sale at £18, too). It's a great size and so incredibly practical. The containers slide and stack so you can have them in different formations. It's such a clever little product, and is a wonderful home to all the sparkly stationery things which five year olds and thirty-nine year olds need and love.
I'm so happy to finally have a tidy desk. Next task, a tidy home office!
I received the slide and rule desk organiser and lift off penholder as part of my role on the Great Little Trading Co. testing team. Both a really fab products so I'm more than happy to recommend them.
