I've shared a few of my favourite finds with you over the past couple of months ... a gorgeous seagrass tray, an incredibly inexpensive ceramic popcorn bowl, a beautiful H&M blanket and a storage box that doubles up as the cutest breakfast in bed tray. With four posts under my belt (and potentially more in the archives), I'm pretty sure that I can now officially call it a series, right?
So welcome to my new series, 'My Favourite Finds'.
Every couple of weeks, I'm planning to share something small and lovely (and mostly purse-friendly) that I've welcomed in to my home, and that I think you'd be rather fond of too. I really like beauty products, have a bit of an addiction to tan leather bags, spend a touch too much on haircare but it's things for the home that bring out my inner magpie. And I know that there's so many of you out there who are just like me and can't resist an interiors purchase to perk up your day.
It also gives me an excuse to spend a few minutes photographing pretty things, which is my equivalent to putting my feet up for five minutes with a magazine. A joy!
In this, my first official My Favourite Finds, I'd like to introduce you to the Umbra Toto Storage Box. It's a grown up desk organiser. And a damn sight prettier than the horrendous plastic, cylinder version that I had as a child. The joys of growing up in the 80s with a lack of Scandi-influenced home accessories in every store and supermarket ... it was either the plastic version, most likely bought from Woolworths, or a Blue Peter-style toilet-rolls-stuck-together alternative.
The Umbra Toto Storage Box is a huge step up. I really like the look and feel of it ... I'm a complete sucker for the mixture of birch wood and white. It's a simple but chic combination. The compartments are perfectly sized for pens, pencils, bits of stationery, and the white metal tray pulls out to reveal even more storage sections which are ideal for hiding the sweets that you've stolen from your children. Or the conkers that they've picked and you've temporarily 'borrowed' because you know they'll make a great prop for an autumnal blog post you've got coming up.
Not just great for keeping your desk clutter-free, I think it would be ideal for keeping makeup or jewellery together. It's much nicer than the acrylic trays which seem to be everywhere at the moment. And I like that it's easy to pick up and carry from room to room as and when you need it. Great if you work from home and are moving between desk and dining table or ideal for finding a mirror with the best light if you choose to use it for storing makeup.
You can buy Umbra Toto Storage Box from Hurn & Hurn for £30 and I think it's worth every penny.
Do you like it? Or have a desk that it would sit prettily upon? I think it's one of those useful things that you'd always find a home and a purpose for.
