My favourite finds: If you had to buy just one accessory for your home ...

I'm not talking about sofas or coffee tables, or even lamps or chairs. I mean the little things that make your house seem like a home. You know, cushions, vases, wall art, ornaments ... those kind of accessories. They're the gift wrapping, aren't they? They add a touch of fancy and a dash of pretty. And aren't those just the best things?

But if you only had the money to buy one of those lovely accessories for your home, which would I recommend? What item should you find the perfect front and centre spot for? Well, it would have to be the humble, but oh so incredibly useful, tray.

Yes, a tray.

Don't just think of a tray in terms of an item to carry multiple cups of tea (or glasses of wine) from one room to another. And erase all thoughts of the uninspired variety found in school canteens. You want something a little bit more special than that in your home, don't you?

There are so many gorgeous options available nowadays and my current tray of choice is this fabulous one in white wash seagrass which was kindly sent to me by ALSO Home - go take a look, you'll be wowed by ALSO Home's beautiful collection which includes the very best of Scandinavian and Japanese design.

Now, I'm not saying that I won't use the tray for carrying my breakfast to a sunny spot in the garden. The natural material would look beautiful holding blue and white crockery with a pop of colour from a glass of orange juice. It would whisk me straight back to breakfast overlooking the sea in Capri last year.

But I'm not lying when I say that a tray can absolutely transform a table top, a sideboard, a bookcase, or a coffee table, as well. They are perfect for gathering together special bits and pieces, or even not so special bits and pieces, as arrange items neatly on a tray and they look like a feature rather than a collection of things which don't have a home.

And that's why I'm using mine to add a touch of colour and style to the coffee table in my living room. With a vase of colourful and sweet-smelling stocks, a simple but pretty cup and saucer, and a little white candle, the tray brings three individual items together and makes them look so much more like a curated display of precious things. I love it!

Tell me, if you had to buy just one accessory for your home, what would you choose?
