Window shutters have been on my radar since we lived in Switzerland a few years ago. Every single room in our rented apartment had them and we loved them. They were amazing for regulating both the light and heat in our home, and particularly pleased my husband who is somewhat anti-curtain.
In our current home, we've been slowly but surely replacing all of the curtains with blinds. But when the pair in living room were accidentally pulled down last week (along with the rail and part of the wall, yikes) while we were having a new carpet fitted, we talked about it and have decided to see it as an opportunity to opt for wooden window shutters.
And fortuitous timing too as I had just started browsing the stunning selection available at Shutterly Fabulous in preparation for writing this post and sharing their range with you. Shutterly Fabulous began in Brighton in 2001 and now have installation teams fitting for customers all across the UK. They're a company who pride themselves on offering unrivalled quality, service and value and take the utmost care with each and every order.
I'm pretty sure that we're going to settle on white plantation window shutters for the living room. We have lots of colourful furniture and accessories in there and they'll add a chic touch to the space and provide some balance. But, I have to confess, it's the beautiful pastel shutters that I've been swooning over the most. They're stunning!
Top of my list would be these gorgeous solid panel wood shutters in varying pastel shades. Shutterly Fabulous offer a custom colour service so if the colour you want isn't part of their standard range, you can simply give them a sample of the paint or stain colour you want, and they'll match it.
Yellow is one of the hottest colours for summer 2017. Fashion-wise, you can't walk in to a clothes shop without spotting it and that's filtering through to interiors, too. I'm not sure how I'd feel about it in winter but I love it mixed with the green furniture and accessories in these images.
Most of the rooms in my house centre around blues and greens, and if I were to opt for coloured shutters, it would be in this really fresh mint colour. I think it's timeless.
And do you remember my mini bedroom makeover with pretty pastels? Wouldn't these blush pink shutters finish off the look? They would suit the room and the decor perfectly. And the world's love of pink shows no sign of abating any time soon.
Ultimately, I know that this is the look and feel we'll go for in the living room. Simple, white plantation shutters with lots of colourful accessories. Much like I opt for white walls so I can mix and match our furniture and change the style of rooms simply by adding different accessories, I think white shutters will stand the test of time and really suit our home.
What do you think? Are you swayed by pastel perfection or would white or a wood stain work for you? Let me know in the comments!
