Having FINALLY exchanged contracts last week, and with a move date set for mid Feb, you can probably imagine that I'm now in MAJOR sorting and decluttering mode.
What do we have that we don't want?
What do we have that we don't need?
And what do we have that simply won't work in the new house?
Everyone has that room, right? The one which you don't speak of and quickly close the door on ... after throwing in various items of no fixed abode. Winter coats, summer jackets, random shoes, odd socks, letters to be filed, old toys waiting to be taken to the charity shop, bags, plastic bags, bags for life, tote bags, seven half-used bottles of the same kitchen cleaner, and precious ornaments purchased from sunny isles which seem to turn to tat the moment you land on British soil. Items which have passed being important in your life or used on a daily basis but you're not quite ready to deal with or find a new home for. Well, now you know why my house always looks so tidy; it's because all of those things have been hidden in our laundry room never to be released in to the home proper again.
