On Saturday, we took the boys to Erddig to see Father Christmas. It's something that we've done every December for the past few years preferring a more traditional experience rather than somewhere full on festive - nothing wrong with department stores and city centres but my two are wild enough as it is, throw in loud music and animation and they verge on being uncontrollable.
On Sunday, we headed to Erddig for the annual apple festival with the Mini Travellers gang on a bit of #UKexplore team day out, husbands and children included! Having been grey and overcast the previous day, we were so surprised to wake up to the bluest of skies. Wellies and coats were happily left at home as we skipped out of the door and drove along the winding Welsh roads to one of our favourite National Trust properties.
Oh my, just as I thought my new sandals would never see the light of day and I'd resigned myself to spending the next few months with an umbrella as my constant companion, our tease of a sun has really treated us to wonderful weather over the past few days, hasn't she? Suncream, on. Freckles, out. Ice lollies, licked. And even if it doesn't last, and let's face it, we live in the UK so it's unlikely to last, we'll always have those glorious May days where we dithered about what to do, unused to leaving the house without wellies, waterproofs and a wish for a storm-free hour, and wondered whether today would be the day for the first BBQ of the year.
