Decorating and gardening seem to have well and truly eaten in to my blogging time recently. I was a little bit naive to think that once the chaos of moving had subsided, I'd be able to write more. In fact, the packing and unpacking was only the beginning. Making our house a home has turned in to a permanent distraction at the cost of all other (somewhat limited, admittedly ... I have a five and a seven year old, after all) hobbies.
Tea towels and pom pom tiebacks, not two things which naturally go together, right? One performs a humble household task and the other adds a touch of frivolity or glamour to your curtains. But let me tell you, combined in the right way, they are crafting dynamite. Well, dynamite might be a slight exaggeration but a few minutes spent on a sewing machine can leave you with a seriously cute bag. Yep, a little drawstring bag made from an inexpensive cloth and a length of cord. Crazy! And actually, even if you don't have a sewing machine, you can probably use a sewing needle. They are that easy to make.
I'm finally giving in and admitting to myself that it really is autumn. No more glancing longingly at my sandals and suncream. It's too late for them now. Back in the cupboard they must go. New boots have been bought, gloves sought, and a coat has become part of everyday wardrobe now. I'm still feeling a touch sad about no warm weather for the next few months but the thought of Halloween and Bonfire Night is cheering me up. They're two of my most favourite celebrations.
